Real-time multi-messenger Astrophysics
The key objective of this workshop is to develop and disseminate a research agenda on interconnecting software tools in real-time multi-messenger astronomy. This international conference provides a forum for leading scientists and young researchers to foster communication within the community between developers and users with a range of expertise in the production and use of software tools that facilitates life in rapidly evolving real-time multi-messenger astronomy.
Astro-COLIBRI allows professional and amateur astronomers keeping track of the latest transient astrophysical events.
The most violent explosions in the universe are detected by a global network of observatories. They observe supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, flares of extragalactic objects and many more. Astro-COLIBRI alerts you in real-time about these events.
What do we know about the physics of transient events?
What multi-messenger signatures do we expect from transients?
How to detect these extreme transient events?
How to alert the community about flare detections?
Neutrino source physics and monitoring (e.g. IceCube)
To cover the complete multi-messenger picture (e.g. with H.E.S.S.)
The traveling distance between the airports in Dortmund, Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf and the Ruhr-Universität Bochum is two hours at the most. Düsseldorf airport is the most easily accessible one, with up to eight direct trains per hour running between the airport and Bochum’s main train station; the journey takes about half an hour. You can buy tickets directly at the train stations at ticket automats.
You can reach the Ruhr-University, which has its own station, easily by catching the underground (U-Bahn) train U35 (CampusLinie). You can get into the underground at the main station Bochum. On workdays, the U35 (going to Bochum Hustadt) departs in five-minute intervals, and it takes 10 minutes to go from the main train station to the university station.
The event takes place in the new lecture hall HIB (yellow arrow) at the Ruhr-University Bochum. In the map, you find the way from the underground stop "Ruhr-Universität Bochum" to the lecture hall HIB.
The conference dinner on Monday 19h PM takes place in
Hans im Glück in the bustling city centre close to the main station in Bochum (find location). The dinner is funded by SFB 1491 and the RUB Research school.
